The debate team opened its season at the Northeast Indiana Fall Congress on Saturday, and many students turned in notable performances. Bruin highlights: (varsity) Elena Unzicker and Margo Finnigan each placed third in their respective chambers, with Bennett Brown and Desmond Lind placing fifth and sixth; (novice) Kip Skiles third, Thomas Schlabach fifth and Eli Schloneger sixth. Earning NFL degrees: Lind his second (Honor), Schloneger his first (Merit). Eviella Sefu served as presiding officer for a novice chamber, also providing a workshop on how presiding in a chamber works.  Two pieces of legislation authored by Bennett were chosen by the 50 students present to be debated at the District Congressional Debate tournament in January.

Games Needed for High School Lunch and Breaks
With the new no-phone policy in place, our high school students are looking for fun, engaging ways to spend time together during lunch and breaks. We’d like to build a collection of games—board games, card games, puzzles, and other activities—that students can enjoy in small or large groups. If you have gently used games to donate, please send them in with your student to take to the office. This is a great way to help foster community, laughter, and connection among our students. Students have suggested the following games: Puzzles, decks of playing cards, Uno, Phase 10, Skip Bo, Wavelength, Battleship, Sequence, Ticket to Ride, and Mastermind. Thank you for considering.
