Congratulations to Linden Rothshank (7th grade) on having his clay sculpture, Sitting Fox, selected for the national K-12 ceramic exhibition in Detroit at the end March.

In the state chess individual tournament on Saturday, Arlo Hartman placed fifth in the Elementary JV division. Congratulations to Arlo, and to Ander, Avery, and Adam for their performances. Bruins results: Elementary JV (74 participants): Arlo Hartman - 5th, Ander Hartman - 23rd; 3rd grade and Under (also 74 participants): Avery Morris – 51, Adam Patrick – 56

In the ISSMA district contest on Saturday, Marta Bergstresser earned gold for her vocal performance and qualifies to advance to the state contest.

Upper School

The middle school’s winter dance is scheduled for Saturday, February 21, 7-9 p.m. in the cafeteria. 

In the Bethany speech invitational on Saturday, Bethany placed second to perennial powerhouse Plymouth. Bruins earning two ribbons each were Eviella Sefu, Bennett Brown, and Ethan Claassen; also scoring for the Bruins were Preston Miller, Evan Gutierrez, Luna Calderon, Lydia Smucker, Savanna Helton, and Margo Finnigan. Eviella also earned her sixth NFL degree, Superior Distinction, by passing the 750-point mark. Bruin results: Eviella Sefu second in international extemporaneous and fourth in impromptu; Bennett Brown, fifth in both United States extemporaneous speaking and impromptu; Ethan Claassen, fourth in international extemporaneous and sixth in impromptu; Preston Miller third in broadcasting; Evan Gutierrez fourth in discussion; Luna Calderon fourth in original oratory; Lydia Smucker fourth in declamation; Savanna Helton fifth in original performance; Margo Finnigan fifth in prose.

The varsity girls basketball team ended its season with a loss to Blackhawk Christian in sectional semifinals on Friday. Congratulations to the team on their hard work this season.
