About Sarah Yoder
I am a lifelong resident of Goshen, IN. My mother began teaching at Bethany when I was two years old and Bethany has been a second home to me ever since then. I graduated from Bethany in 2001 and married my high school sweetheart, Seth, in 2003. I am thrilled to have all three of my children (Lewis, Elliot, and Ava) attending Bethany now. Our family attends College Mennonite Church and I love helping with the children's time ministry during the worship service. Our kids and two dogs keep us busy with all of their activities. Some of my hobbies are running with my dogs, photography, digital scrapbooking, and reading.
What is your philosophy of teaching?
I believe all students can learn and that we all have things we are good at and things we need help with.
What kind of classroom experience do you try to create for your students?
I hope that students feel known, loved, and supported by me when we are working together. I strive to greet each student with a smile and kind words.
How do you keep students engaged in their learning experience?
I strive to tie student interests into my teaching. I love seeing students make connections with their learning. I enjoy building relationships with students and learning more about their lives, their family, and their interests. I strive to bring a positive energy and enthusiasm to my teaching and to draw students in with excitement.
What qualities or life skills do you wish to impart to your students?
I want students to develop resilience and to learn skills that help them persevere, even when they encounter obstacles. I want students to know they are loved deeply by God and that they are called to share this love with other people. I want to help students develop their gifts and use those gifts to better the world around them.
