About Brent Reinhardt

I like sports and reading spy novels. I am married to my college sweetheart for the past 30 years in June, Marla. I have 4 children. 3 Bethany Graduates 1 currently attending. Alex (Emily), Brooke, Mia, Jacoby. I enjoy doing farm work in the summer. We live on 7 acres of land west of Goshen. I am a member of Yellow Creek Mennonite Church. I have 5 siblings ( 2 deceased). I coached varsity baseball at Bethany for 20 years and currently am in my 17th year assisting girls basketball. I have an officials license for softball, baseball and basketball. I enjoy listening to bands such as Skillet, Red and Petra.

What is your philosophy of teaching?

Teaching and learning is about relationship. Students learn better where a relationship is formed with the teacher. Most students won't remember the content we teach but they will remember what type of person we were. If students see Christ in me I have accomplished my teaching goals. 

What kind of classroom experience do you try to create for your students?

I like students to be at ease. Students will say I'm chill but I have expectations that students will try their best. I like to challenge prevailing culture and encourage students to not get caught up in the next social media outrage. 

How do you keep students engaged in their learning experience?

I use humor and randomness. I quote movies, tv shows, and music from my generation often. I try to use a variety of methods to keep students on their toes. A student will seldom do the same thing in class 2 days in a row. I also try to connect historical events with current issues in some of my history classes. 

What qualities or life skills do you wish to impart to your students?

I want all students to learn to persevere. I am relentless and I value that in others. Life is hard. Never give up. 

What fuels your passion and drive to be an educator?

My passion comes from the kids. I love teens. 

When you aren't teaching, what can we find you doing?

During the school year: lying on the couch. During the summer: outside working on the farm.
