A Season of Renewal and Growth

As glimmers of spring began, Head of School, Tim Lehman, embarked on a sabbatical until early April. This opportunity marked a significant moment in Tim’s nine-year tenure, allowing him to engage in personal and professional growth.

A key highlight of Tim’s sabbatical was the chance to spend time with his aging family members and immerse himself in a cherished family tradition: maple syrup production. Working alongside his father in their upstate New York family sugarbush, he deepened his understanding of the craft and lore of sugaring. This experience was not only a personal passion but also an opportunity to gain fresh insights that he looks forward to sharing with the Bethany community upon his return.

Beyond the maple groves, Tim also dedicated time to exploring board structure and governance. This project aimed to strengthen Bethany’s leadership framework, reinforcing the school’s long-term vision and sustainability. His work in this area will ensure that Bethany continues to benefit from strong, forward-thinking governance for years to come.

Though he was with family in New York, Tim remained actively engaged with the school’s leadership. Weekly check-ins with the administrative team and board ensured a smooth and seamless transition. Bethany's leadership team oversaw daily operations, keeping the school running efficiently during his absence.
