Competing at Heritage High School's Patriot Parlay tournament, Bethany took fourth place as a team.
Junior Eviella Sefu was champion in poetry and tied for second in international extemporaneous speaking. Junior Elena Unzicker nabbed second in United States extemporaneous speaking and sixth in impromptu. Juniors Evan Gutierrez and Jenny Rios took sixth in discussion and original oratory, respectively.
The teams compete again next week at Fort Wayne Dwenger, with a regular-season speech tournament and district, national-qualifying Congress both on tap.
