Following are Bethany alumni who have begun service assignments during 2015:

Luke Penner (’04), San Julian, El Salvador, Mennonite Central Committee (MCC), health promoter. Luke is a graduate of Hesston and Goshen colleges and is the son of Milbert and Ruth Penner.

Alli (Hawkins ’06) and Kyle (’06) Stiffney, San Nicolas, Nicaragua, Voluntary Mission Movement in education and community development. Alli is the daughter of Cindy (Bontrager '82) and Dave Hawkins (Board 2007-). Kyle is the son of Kirk and Susan Stiffney.
 

Simon (’07) and Becca Smucker, Bolivia, MCC, accounting/Connecting Peoples facilitator. A graduate of Goshen College, Simon is the son of Greg (F'83-86) and Barbara Smucker (Board 2008-).

Hannah (’07) and Jacob Roth Geyer, Santander, Spain, teaching English. A graduate of Goshen College, Hannah is the daughter of John and Ruth Miller Roth.

Emily Bowman ('08), Honduras, MCC, ambassador between the Honduran Mennonite Church and Mennonite churches in North and South America. A graduate of Goshen College, Emily is the daughter of Helen (Stoltzfus '74) and Murray Bowman and is a member at Waterford Mennonite Church in Goshen.

Jacob Gerig (’10), of Mishawaka, Indiana, began a one-year term of Mennonite Voluntary Service in August 2015 in Kansas City, Kansas, as Digital Inclusion intern with Connecting for Good. A 2014 graduate of Goshen College, Jacob is the son of Beth and Kevin Gerig, and is a member of Kern Road Mennonite Church in South Bend, Indiana.

Jenae Hershberger (’11), Youth With a Mission and Justice 180, working with victims of human trafficking in Los Angeles, Cambodia, and Thailand. A graduate of Hesston and Goshen colleges, Jenae is the daughter of Juanita (Faculty 2008-) and Jeff Hershberger and is a member at Yellow Creek Mennonite Church, Goshen.

Ali Hochstetler (’11), Nicaragua, serving with several medical clinics. A 2015 graduate of Goshen College, Ali is the daughter of Linda (Faculty 2011-) and Jerry Hochstetler and is a member at Silverwood Mennonite Church, Goshen.

Eva Lapp (’11), of Goshen, Indiana, began a two-year term of Mennonite Voluntary Service in August 2015 in Alamosa, Colorado, as restorative justice/mediation coordinator with Center for Restorative Programs. A 2015 graduate of Goshen College, Eva is the daughter of Sandra and John ('78) Lapp, and is a member of College Mennonite Church in Goshen.

Ben Mast (’11), South Korea, teaching English. A 2015 graduate of Eastern Mennonite University, Ben is the son of John ('81) and Lois (Stoltzfus '80) Mast and a member at Berkey Avenue Mennonite Church.

Emily Shenk (’11), Aibonito, Puerto Rico, teaching English at Academia Menonita Betania. A 2015 graduate of Eastern Mennonite University, Emily is the daughter of Karen (Staff 2000-) and Dale Shenk and is a member at Sunnyside Mennonite Church, Elkhart, Ind.

Leslie Weaver ('11), Portland, Ore., working in public health with Americorp.

Marla zumFelde (’11) of Goshen, Indiana, began a one-year term of Mennonite Voluntary Service in September 2015 in Seattle, Washington, as community service representative with Rainier Health and Fitness. A 2015 graduate of Eastern Mennonite University, Harrisonburg Virginia, Marla is the daughter of Evelyn and Roger zumFelde, and is a member of Walnut Hill Mennonite Church in Goshen.

Jesse Amstutz (’15), Honduras, MCC Serving and Learning Together. Jesse is the son of Neil and Janette Amstutz and is a member at Waterford Mennonite Church in Goshen.

Vashti Neff (’15), Tanzania, Love Volunteers, working with disabled children in an orphanage. Vashti is the daughter of Vernon and Talandra Neff and Sherie Neff. She is a member at Crystal Valley Missionary Church in Middlebury, Ind.
