Boys soccer defeated Westview 3-1 and then Central Noble 6-0 to win the Westview sectional. In regionals the Bruins defeated Bremen in a shootout (regulation 0-0) and then lost 2-1 in the regional championship to Boone Groove. The team finished with a 9-10-1 record. Earning Northern Indiana Soccer Conference Awards for 1st team were Cedric Brenneman and Simon Graber Miller and for 2nd team Tim Cartmel, KeShawn Smith, and Nick Yoder. Receiving honors from the Indiana Soccer Coaches Association were Cedric Brenneman (2nd Team All-District 1), Conrad Yoder (ISCA Top Team Award) and as Academic All-State, Tim Cartmel, Simon Graber Miller, Conrad Yoder, Nick Yoder, and Alex Cartwright. Cross country teams did not advance in sectional play, but Clara Lind advanced to regionals as an individual. At regionals Lind ran 22:42 (two seconds slower than at sectionals), placing 73rd out of 90 runners. Volleyball lost in four sets to Elkhart Christian in the Fremont sectional. The team finished with a 17-13 record. Senior Tarynn Clark finished in the top ten career records in three categories: 2nd in digs with 886, 5th in kills with 630, and 4th in serving aces with 173. Senior Brooke Reinhardt is tenth in serving aces with 141. Sophomore Jadyn Kaufmann had 640 assists which is the second best season mark for a 5-1 offense. Boys tennis lost to Fairfield 4-1 in a sectional semifinal at Goshen, and finishes the season 7-13. However, the No. 1 doubles team of Dustin Miller-Jonathon Yousey advanced in individual play. They defeated Goshen 7-5, 6-4 and then lost to NorthWood in three sets. Receiving Bruin awards: Sportsmanship: Nathan Oostland; MVP: Jonathon Yousey; Leadership: Jonathon Yousey; Coach’s Award: Dustin Miller; JV MVP: Braden Bohn. Joel Yoder was named Academic All-State and Jonathon Yousey Academic All-State honorable mention.
Girls soccer defeated Elkhart Christian in a semifinal and then lost to Westview 2-0 in the championship. The team finished with an 11-6-1 record. Earning Northern Indiana Soccer Conference Awards for 1st team were Anne Nisley and Caroline Cartmel and for 2nd team Kassy Miller and Karina Kern. Receiving Bruin awards were Melina Liras, sportsmanship; Emma Thomas, hustle; Ana King, most improved; Sarah Hochstetler, mental attitude; Macinsy Sanchez, goal of the year; and Anne Nisley, top team player.
