Bethany Christian senior Jesse Ramer has been selected to the 18-member IHSAA Student Advisory Committee, which is made up of student-athletes from across the state of Indiana. Jesse, who is co-captain in soccer and basketball, is serving on the council for a second year. He says, “It is a privilege to serve in a larger role and to bring back new ideas to Bethany.” This year he is helping Bethany athletic director Bryan Kehr organize a Student Athletic Advisory Council for the school. Ramer says, “This will help students learn to be better leaders and allow them to share ideas with other students.”

The IHSAA Student Advisory Committee represents the entire IHSAA membership, and its committee structure mirrors that of the IHSAA Board of Directors in class, district, and diversity. Members of the committee are chosen from those who attend the IHSAA Student Leadership Conference each year. Jesse was among six Bethany athletes who attended the conference (see Athletes Nurture Leadership Skills).

The Committee's functions include hosting student meetings that are held in conjunction with fall area principals meetings around the state, assisting the executive committee in awards ceremonies during the IHSAA State Championship events throughout the school year, and planning and administering the annual IHSAA Student Leadership Conference.
